Tom is the founding director of GoodLife Community Partnership.
An ordained clergy of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod since 1984, Tom's extensive background in organizational leadership/management and experience as a leader in a non-profit setting provide a rich spring of experience upon which to draw from. His www.MinistryHealth.net and other published writings for the Alban Institute, Net Results and other publications reflect his interest in building healthier environments for organizations, non-profits and churches.

Tom is a graduate of Concordia University, Ann Arbor Michigan (B.A.-1979), Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MI (M.Div.-1983) and Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI (M.S.A.-1994). He is the founding pastor of Lord of New Life Lutheran Church, Midland, MI. Tom is currently pastor of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Rochester Hills, MI and Director of GoodLife Community Partnership.

Tom has extensive experience as an educator, teacher and presenter. Tom was instructor for Michigan Lutheran Ministries Institute (1988-1992), Concordia University-Extension (1992-1993), Concordia Theological Seminary-Extension (1994), and as an adjunct small group facilitator for Lombard Mennonite Peace Center's week-long Mediation Skills Institute.

Tom has been married to Cheryl (nee Lorenz) since 1980. Together they have been blessed with one daughter, Michelle, who is married to Robert Hannon. Tom and Cheryl have one grandson, Emmett, born in 2012, who reside in Grand Beach, Michigan.
​
Tom is an accomplished musician and enjoys playing organ, contemporary keyboard, guitar as well as directing and composing music for worship and enjoyment. In his spare time, Tom enjoys a round of golf with anyone--of any level of expertise.
